Aren't three day weekends great? I absolutely love the fact that when Sunday comes, you have another day. Saturday morning I had the Cold Feat 10K. It is a local trail race in Staten Island and it was a great race full of mud, friends and Nutella. Yes, Nutella, I’ll explain that in a bit. Firstly, I arrived at the race and literally ran into Michelle.
She and I have been trying to meet in person for ages and even though we both live on the same island, life usually gets in the way. I was so happy to meet her and didn't even realize I was hanging out with the would-be first place woman! In spite of a course full of muddy trails, she kicked butt. Yup, she is awesome. She also wrote a great race report. So read that and I’ll focus on what I know.

The winners got trophies and jars of Nutella. All participants got a box of chocolates and hot drinks to warm up post-race.

It was great fun, especially after hearing that my team won for fastest women from a team and my time helped with that.

I was the 14th woman to finish. Yup, the race was about 200 people, but that made it no less exciting to me. I am definitely a fan of the local race these days.
Saturday night was one of my BFF's birthday. We headed to the city for tapas. I didn't love the place so I won't bother mentioning it. We did have fun though.

Sunday we decided to get out of Dodge. We packed up the Chevy Traverse and headed to Pennsylvania.

We got a cheap room in the Poconos and spent the day enjoying the pool and some outlet shopping at The Crossings. While we received so many great donations, there are still so many things that we need to replace. This was the place to do it.

For dinner we were headed to our usual spot, but we passed a new restaurant in Stroudsberg and were feeling adventurous. Marco Antonio's is a Spanish/Portuguese restaurant, but it also has a bit of an Italian flare. I even liked the idea of the BYOB, except that we were unprepared. Note to self: Keep wine in truck for such emergencies. I will definitely be back there soon.

Early to bed and early to rise, I headed to the hotel’s “fitness center” for my workout. I had 3 miles and 4 sets of exercises on the calendar from Jess. It was literally 1 bad treadmill and a bike.

I got it in regardless. And I now have an appreciation for a good treadmill (read: longest 3 miles ever).

Afterward, we had some quick breakfast and then back into the pool. I always love being in a pool in the winter. It almost feels like I am getting over on Mother Nature. Lord knows she’s had the last laugh lately.
Last night, was a bit of a rush to prepare for another week, but sometimes it is just nice to get away and unplug. I won’t say that I wasn't “online” at all, but I did not feel inclined to share my days with Facebook, etc. It was refreshing to just do life... and blog about it later.
What did you do this weekend?
